Eat in Malacca

Finally done with the Malacca trip assignment's presentation as well as the paper work ! Yahoo.....but very tired , had to sacrify my sleeping hour for it.... learned my lesson - never do last minute work ! hehe...

Obviously when i go through the pictures and video we took during the trip .... it makes me hungary. Well, of course Malacca has good food and they are CHEAPPPP too !
ADVICE : prepare tissue paper, you might drool ! :)

Does this makes you drooling ?
Our group need cendol for everyday's meal .... hahaha.....
This is mango cendol .... i didn't ordered durian cendol because ..... i dislike durian !

Well, amazingly this time i break my personal policy .... i ate durian dodol ! Man, i guess maybe too long i did not take durian that's why everytime i ate it , i have to run for toilet. I still have durian dodol at home now, obviously now nampak pun dah nak muntah ..... conclusion : i ate too much !

O yea .... the pineapple tarts are nice ! You can get it anywhere in Jonker Street ... this box i get from LW Nyonya Pineapple Tart House RM 6.90 per box, if i'm not wrong .... tasty and all freshly baked. The dodol i also get it there. It's super sticky .... my friend said this prove that it is super fresh ... i don't know .... what i know is it is quite delicious compare to the TKM brand , cos TKM as i remember is not as sticky as this one and the price is cheaper than TKM . Maybe i have weirdo taste bud!

This is the icon of the LW Nyonya Pineapple Tart House....

And..... nyonya laksa ! We had this in one of the stall in Jonker Street the first night . O yea, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night they have the Jonker walk ! Don't forget to try out the nyonya food in Malacca .... this time we missed the nyonya specialty , cos rushing of time !

These are the nyonya kuih i ate before we had our chicken rice ball for breakfast ..... nyum nyum !

Then i had 5 chicken rice balls for my breakfast ..... another was in digesting process while i was taking this picture .... hehe !

I had a chance to try out the popiah there. I get this at a 'moving stall' . An old uncle with his stall which he will cycle around in Jonker street . RM1.00 .... SEDAP ! He put some sort of sweet sauce on it with chili sauce . The last day, 10 minutes before we left for bus station , me and another two friends ran around Jonker Street searching for this .... no fate ... we didn't manage have our last one ! Maybe next time, hopefully there is !

Satay celup ! Celup, tunggu dan makan !

I wonder how big is the prawn's brain ???

My team ....

OK, i know .... sometimes we do stupid things .....

Alice lives here a.k.a Clean shit

Every year this time , a lot of up coming movies showing in cinema , to one extend that my schedule is full of the dates of the upcoming movies that i want to watch.

Today i spend some time at home watching the last independent movie that i have borrowed from my friend, " Alice lives here" . Sometimes i think this kind of independent movies should make known to public. It speaks the reality and it makes people think.

Alice lives here -
A small, unknown farming village in Malaysia, is the centre of an intense struggle against the powers of big government and coporation. The story of how the citizens of Broga fought the construction of the largest municipal waste incinerator in Asia, is told through the eyes of Alice Lee; a Broga villager. This documentary traces the change and political awakening experienced by Alice and the people of Broga-Semenyih.

A nice masterpiece ! Reveiled the reality of the ruling of our government. Some scene is quite sarcastic and provocation.

Artistic Malacca

This time i went to Malacca with my team to accomplish our MISSION to do research about the backpacking culture. So , of course, this time we went to Malacca with the identity of backpackers. We did what the backpackers do ..... cheap hostel, budget trip and bla bla bla.......

We booked a few hostel rooms in the Ringo's Foyer, a small hostel, 5 minutes walk from Jonker Street. Although the hostel is not a big deal but you should meet the owner personally. A great person, friendly and generous. He knew we were there for research so he introduced us to a few couples of foreign backpackers .... from Switzland, Japan , Vietnam , Philipines and local, who stayed in Ringo's Foyer too. He even brought us around and show us the place to get delicious cendol. Should try out this hostel , one word to describe that place, EXCELLENT !

Malacca is named as a historical city. It is famous with its grandmother stories of the collonization of the west. So we have the Dutch historical building and the Portugese remnants, A famosa. So far so many times i went to Malacca, i did not realised i missed out something. Now i know what do i like about Malacca.

Art is in every corner of Malacca! From the traditional sense of art to the street art. Hmmm.... impressive ! An artistic town !

* there are a lot of shops selling clogs, artistic handmade stuff...... etc

*Aunty sewing the beads on for the beading shoes .... not easy ... no wonder a pair of shoes cost RM100++

* LIBRARY ???? so ancient one ......

*I like the interior design of the shops and the restaurants there. Very artistic deco .....

Most of the pics i took are during our walk in Jonker Street. There are still a lot more pics that we took .... but now i'm having difficulties with the TOTALLY- FLAW - SCREWED UP dvd that my friend burned for me! The extras will be shown in the future.............

Art is everywhere in the town ..... even the ......

Floor ! Spot something?!

i wonder whose doggy's paw's print is that ?!

Kopi O Khau Sikit , Kurang Manis

My friend bought a few independent films recently....the films awarded for 2006 Freedom Film Festival [ The Invisible Children , Kopi O Khau Sikit Kurang Manis , Rainy Days , Twelve 11 ] , 2007 Freedom Film Festival [ 10 years before Merdeka, She is My Son , Bo Lang Chai ] and another one entitled ' Alice lives here ' .

She borrowed me and i have just watched the ' Kopi O Khau Sikit Kurang Manis ' a minute ago . Most of these films are about human rights and some issue that we Malaysian are not aware of - betul jugak apa orang cakap , orang Malaysia ni agak selfish lah, care sendiri je , kiasu dan kiasi !

Kopi O Khau Sikit Kurang Manis is a documentary about how much our Malaysian police love to ' drink kopi ' . I like the title so much .... hehe .... It reveiled the ugliness of our police force. Man, 1 word , i'm lovin it !

Should watch more this kinda film .... sometimes it makes people think.

Very bad news!!!

Popular culture's lecturer gave us an assignment to go somewhere like KL or Malacca for a 3 days 2 nights backpack trip on the other hand doing some research and observation . Some were annoyed by this assignments while some were excited with it - i'm the most excited one ! We were given a period of time untill 16 June to do this assignment, so we can go whenever we want . Many of the groups done the trip assignment while my group decided to be the latest to do it.... we gonna go Malacca by this Friday.

Bad news, bad news ..... people just hate to hear bad news !

Although we were restricted to go to either KL or Malacca but there were a few groups which went to Penang. Early in the morning, ..... i received bad news. One of the group which went to Penang met with a severe car accident while they were on their way back last night. A drunken lorry driver drove into the opposite lane that caused their van skidded off the road while trying to avoid the lorry. Most of them were injured .... bruised, bleed, traumatized ..... One of my friend got severe injury that she need to get operate.

Gosh.... sometimes things just meant to be happen . It was just a tiny, easy assignment.... no one knew things like that would happen .... we never even think about it and take no caution at all. . Sometimes things just happen when we were not prepare for it .. ... Just like death. It's like ' ok, i'm just 21, what will happen to me. I'm still young and still have a long way ahead of me! ' . I do not know when will God take me away from this earth .... all that i know is , if i am to be taken away tomorrow, i'm not prepared yet. I'm not prepare to leave everything behind me .... my family, my friends and all that i have ....... There are still so many things that i want to do.

Conclusion : Live life to the fullest everyday! Go ahead and do things that you want to do, leave no regret !

Speachless ..............

My first play.....

My lecturer has always been mentioning about stage play. Well , I have not been to one before . I'm quite curious of how will a stage play in Malaysia looks like , untill today my first visit to a stage play in Bangsar Shopping Centre, The Actor Studio.

Well , BSC is definitely a high end place - we can't find any cheap food for lunch. All they have are Chilis, DOME, some other classy restaurants and pub .... well, we ended up having our lunch at Delifrance. Haha, don't mention it , i spend RM 22++ for my meal ....WOW! Next time should get my lunch before i go!

Where was i just now? O yeah, the play.... we were there for the ' How I Learned to Drive ' stage play by The Oral Stage [ to know who they are and what is it please kindly visit http://www.theoralstage.com/ ] . They always have new upcoming interesting plays . Go check out the plays , you might get addicted to it !

All in all, i enjoyed the play. Well, it cost me RM22 for the play, no matter what also have to enjoy it lar ! Haha....it was really a nice play, honestly . The storyline was interesting . I'm very impressed with how the director actually brought the flow of the whole act and the storyline. The director brought the whole senario on the stage and as though it happened vividly in front of the audience's eyes. The story line is clear and creative as well - though there was a small part that i do not understand. I guess it is too creative that this donkey could not understand !

** Went with a few friends of mine ....

Past 2 weeks i kept on indulged myself with my favourite Secret Recipe choco brownies and lepaking with friends with card games and pool, but seems that it is not working. Guess this is the side effect of the final projects..... maybe i'm just a lil' stress up. Haiz...die die alo have to finish the projects lar! So what the hell ! Boost up the spirit !

Green Day
Wake Me Up When September Ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent may never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my fathers come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Ring out the bells again
Like we did when Spring began

Wake me up when September ends

Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are

As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends

Like my fathers come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September

Manalah ku afford.....

Have not grab my morning paper yet. But guess will the issue of increasing fuel price become the main page headline?!

Yesterday after my Japanese language class, me and my fellow friends got stuck in the traffic jam for 2 hours. Usual lar, KL ma! But yesterday was a bit extraordinary because only jam when it is near to petrol stations.

All the petrol station are fully booked! This is the day when we can see how Malaysian are so 'alert' and ' supportive' ..... only when it is concerning about MONEY ! Everyone is queuing up for the petrol even for the few litter that they can fill . Walau, few litter only oso money ma! 1 litter increase RM0.80 , if 5 litter already RM4 lor. I can eat 1 plate of chow kueh tiaow already ler.... - this is when my friend used the word..... 'kiasu'.

All the while Malaysian is actually quite blessed because the government subsidized quite a huge amount for the fuel price, unlike others country. Due to some reason the government have to withdraw the subsidy. As it was reported that assuming that one day if Malaysia is no longer a country which export or produce fuel - fuel is a kind of mineral where one day it will be used up, where do we get the money to cover up the subsidy of the fuel - I guess the government use the profit of exporting fuel to cover up the subsidy of fuel. Hence the government have to withdraw the subsidy and keep the money for the rainy day.

Last time when my visit to a forum, they were discussing on this issue. I was shocked as well to know that the fuel price will increase. One of the speaker said that government will withdraw the subsidy bit by bit. However i do not expect it to happened so sudden. I guess most of the Malaysian have not prepared for it.

Yea, of course chios arouse , some even condemn the government. But do these people know the fact?!

Questions : Is the action of withdrawing the subsidy too rushed ? Or should it be done earlier ? Will it better so people will become more independent instead of relying too much to the government ?

Now Malaysian should think of getting a ride in public transport instead of driving.
Guess my plan to get a car was crushed by yesterday !
